OUR STORY

Our Beginnings

Del Norte Tacos was established in 2008. Chef and owner, Chris Garcia, transformed an old 1920’s gas station into the destination dining Del Norte Tacos is today. Humble beginnings, hard work, and dedication, expanded the four-item menu Garcia began with when he first introduced himself to the town of Godley. Today, his menu reflects many of his delicious creations including the famous Smoked Chile Relleno.

Who We Are

“Del Norte Tacos” means a style of tacos rooted from northern Mexico.

We call our cuisine a “true Tex-Mex” as our style of food is rooted in northern Mexico and deep south Texas with the German style influence of smoking meats. We ensure the quality of our food meets the quality of our people from selecting fresh produce and meats to creating unique homemade recipes.

Our style of restaurant is counter/service/family style. We strive to keep everything simple, fun, unique, and family oriented. We offer indoor dining, patio seating, and outside dining. We also offer a seasonal outside music venue for dining as well. Other services we offer include carryout, catering, full-service catering, drop offs, and

our food truck that can host 50 to 500 people.

Chef Bio

Chef Chris Garcia is a well respected chef that creates an amazing food experience that has pleased palates across Texas for over 2 decades.

Cooking has always been in Chris’ blood since a young age. His mother worked two jobs to support their family, so Chris would take it upon himself to have meals ready and this is where it all started.

A specific memory from Chris’ adolescent years was when the neighborhood friends would come grill out but instead of an ordinary charcoal grill, they would flip over a shopping cart and utilize it as a grill. They used pecan wood from the yard to make burgers and hotdogs. His friends always enjoyed going over to this house because of all the experimenting they did with cooking, some good, some bad.

Chris would stay with his grandparents down in the “The Valley”,  otherwise known as South Texas, and this is where he would observe his grandparents cooking techniques and learn. The food was never gourmet, but you could immediately taste the love that went into it.

Chris started professionally cooking when he turned 23. Before that he waited tables, bartended and worked the line.
